Be Vulnerable, Be Authentic, Live Loved

I can’t believe my last post was January 2022! I have spent the time between then and now learning who I am and how to live in the “HERE” rather than “THERE”. Living fully present HERE prepares you for what you will encounter THERE. Take the next few minutes with me to reflect on this journey we call life; especially the educator life.

Take some time with me to reflect on what you think about often, what makes you smile when you think about it, what are you able to do with ease. These things are your gifts and talents; your purpose to fulfill. No one else in education can do it just like you or reason through it the way you do. There will be some who are similar but not exact. Never shrink back because you question your worth compared to others.

In my role, I see teachers comparing themselves with others and wishing they could do or be all that another educator is. The truth behind that is we only see what they allow us to see; the polished version. There may be times we get a glimpse into the raw moments, but mostly what is shared is a polished version. If you are new to education, you will make mistakes and learn so much. That is not a bad thing. We were all new at one point. Even the most seasoned educator can live in the comparison trap. When I work with educators, I see the qualities in each one and how they build on someone else’s qualities. We need each other to create a dynamic change in education. I heard something this year that has stuck with me; you might find this resonates with you as well.

“We are in a new season of life and you are just learning who you are. You have never met this version of you. Give yourself grace to grow and learn this new you.”

I have lived from a place of grace ever since hearing that. When I collaborate with thought partners or tackle a problem, I come from a place of worthiness rather than seeking approval. I will continue the work of living from a place of worthiness and love for the rest of this year and into the new year. What goal(s) do you have for yourself for ending the year and starting the new year? Find your thought partner to be vulnerable with and reach the goals you have.

You are loved, valued, and created with purpose
