Psalms 25:5 Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.
Let us acknowledge the rollercoaster ride that a school year can toss us on. We start every year will hope of what is ahead of us and that hope carries us through the valley of the rollercoaster ride. This hope looks like courage, bravery, honesty, humility, trust, advocacy, and reliance. Between October 31st and Fall Break teachers take on the weight of the year and the load of keeping up with so many demands. Take a moment to reflect on the hope you walked in the school year with and who you have in your corner that can help carry the load with you.
Classroom Core Values
Brené Brown is one of my favorite authors who has transformed the way I communicate and lead. In her book, Dare to Lead, Brené provides a list of values that help you identify what you hold close. Check out the Daring Classroom list of values to identify what values you hold close in life and in your classroom. Hope is one of the values that I hold closely, as it is one of the most important pieces in my life and career. This list has helped me identify other values that I hold close when working with others and the way I present myself. Take time to look over the list, identify your top values, and reflect on the core 2-3 values that you hold. Do these core values show up in your classroom and do your students/colleagues know that you hold these values?
Hope Is the Glue
Hope is the value that holds you together on the toughest days and a light that provides a glimmer of light in each of your students’ eyes. Hope carries you through each day that tomorrow is a new day and new possibilities. Today may not have met expectations and hope is right there with you to encourage you to continue on. During the month of November, take time out of your day to find your core values, reflect on who you have in your corner, and hold onto the hope you have for yourself and your students.
NEVER LOSE HOPE
